Spar Stores Donate Cash to Childrens Hospice

SPAR stores in the south west owned by Gilletts of Callington Ltd. are taking part in a fundraising initiative in a bid to raise thousands of pounds for the Children’s Hospice South West charity.

The company is donating 2p from every item of SPAR’s “S Budget” product range sold in their stores throughout Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset.  S Budget is a range of value grocery items recently introduced throughout SPAR.

Alan Cookson, I.T. Director of Gilletts Callington Ltd., said: “S Budget sales are going extremely well since the launch a few months ago, but we felt that we needed to try and drive them on to the next level, and to do this we needed to highlight them more instore. The idea of linking up with the Children’s Hospice South West came up, so we contacted them, and it soon became clear they were very happy to be associated with the new SPAR Value range, which meant we had the opportunity to highlight each product within the store with shelf talkers outlining the 2p donation. We will be running the initiative for a three-month period, which will finish at the end of January, and if the uplift in sales continues we hope to raise a significant sum of money for this worthy charity. Once we have calculated all S Budget sales from 53 of our 57 stores taking part, we will present a cheque to the charity at our managers meeting in February.”

Children’s Hospice South West, which was founded in 1991, has hospices in Cornwall, Devon and Bristol.
